CALDWELL, Idaho - Renatto Brito converted a penalty kick midway through the second half, lifting Northwest Nazarene to a 1-0 victory over The College of Idaho at Syringa Middle School.
The Crusaders (3-4) outplayed the Yotes in the first half, but could not find the net, however, NNU took advantage of a foul in the box - with Brito beating C of I keeper Aaron Reynolds to the left corner of the net for the lone goal of the game.
"It was good to get a win today and it gives us some things to work on this week as we ready ourselves for conference play next week," commented NNU head coach
Coe Michaelson.
The Coyotes (1-2) had a pair of shots off the post during the game, with NNU keeper Alexander Engemann making a key stop of a Drew Smith flick with ten minutes remaining to preserve the shutout.
NNU will travel to Saint Martin's University next Thursday to face the Saints at 3:00 p.m. PT in a GNAC counter.
