NAMPA, Idaho - Montana State Billings used a pair of complete-game pitching performances to sweep a Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, winning the opener 6-4 and the nightcap 4-1.
In the opener, MSUB's Stephan Malkuch had three hits including a RBI double in the third. Brian Dukart drove in two runs and Chris Round hit a solo home run in the eighth.
In the second game, Malkuch staked MSUB to a 3-0 lead with a three-run home run in the top of the first.
That was enough support for Steve Scott, who pitched a four-hitter, allowing just a single run on a solo home run by Joel Oliver in the fourth. Scott didn't walk a batter and fanned four.
Archie Smith went the distance in the opener, pitching a six-hitter. He walked one and fanned 10.
Brian Fields (0-1) took the game one loss for the Crusaders, while Charles Pollock (1-1) fell in game two.
Boone Farrington, Oliver and Cory Warburton were the only Crusader players with more than one hit in the twinbill. They had two each.
