Crusaders balanced in 81-60 win over UC-Colorado Springs

NAMPA, Idaho - Anthony Golden led four Crusaders in double-figures as the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team defeated UC-Colorado Springs 81-60 on Friday night as the Crusaders host the NNU Thanksgiving Classic at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
 
Golden scored a game-high 19 points, Lateef Williams and Kendall Gielow each had 12, and Louie Beech added 10 as the Crusaders offered a balanced attack against the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in Colorado.  The Crusaders improve to 2-0 and will now face Dixie State College tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
 
Dixie State (2-0) defeated Central Washington (1-1) 78-75 in Friday's early game.  Dixie State, a member of the Pacific West Conference, was led by Donovan Plunkett's 20 points, while CWU was paced by Toussaint Tyler's 16 points.
 
UCCS (0-3) was led by Ben Feilmeier's 14 points, with Alex Snider and Scott Sublousky each adding 10.
 
The Crusaders, who jumped out to a 17-2 lead to open the game, held the Mountain Lions to 31.8-percent (21-66) shooting from the floor and answered with 47.3-percent (26-55) clip on the other end.  The Crusaders held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest and finished 22-of-26 from the free throw line, while UCCS was just 11-of-18.
 
UCCS will play Central Washington tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in the early men's game of the classic-formatted tournament.
