NAMPA, Idaho - The University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team defeated Northwest Nazarene University 25-22, 25-17, 25-16 on Saturday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the Johnson Sports Center.
The match featured the 7th and 9th-ranked teams in the NCAA Division II West Region, as UAA entered the night ranked 7th, and NNU is 9th.
Jackie Matthisen and Cortney Lundberg were the only players to reach double-figures as Matthisen finished with 14 kills and Lundberg had 13 to lead the Seawovles to the three-set victory.
UAA sits alone in first-place in the GNAC with the win, improving to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in league action. The Crusaders will fall into fourth-place in the conference, moving to 13-9 overall and 6-4 in GNAC matches.
The Seawolves hit .286, held NNU to .073 hitting, and out-blocked the Crusaders 10-6.
Calli Scott led the UAA offense with 33 assists, while Stacie Meisner hustled for a match-best 18 digs.
The Crusaders will travel to The College of Idaho on Tuesday night for their final non-conference match of the season against the Coyotes and then host Saint Martin's University next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in a GNAC match.
