Falcons grab 2-0 win over Crusaders in Seattle

| By:
SEATTLE - Tyler Schultz and Alec Nelson scored second-half goals as Seattle Pacific defeated Northwest Nazarene 2-0 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday at Interbay Stadium.

"We had a good effort, but it felt like we may have ran out of gas a little in the second half," commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.  "We have played a lot of games in the last two weeks, so it will be nice to get home and get some quality practice time in and work on the things we have been learning."

Schultz put Seattle Pacific (3-3-3, 2-0-0) ahead at 59:42 scoring from 12 yards after taking a through ball from Josh Hensley. Nelson then added an insurance goal at 71:44 on a 25-yard free kick.

"They played well, especially in the set play situations," Michaelson added.

Ben Lovelace, meanwhile, made seven saves to shut out Northwest Nazarene (8-2-1, 1-2-0), which dropped its second straight after beginning the season with eight wins and a tie.

SPU had a narrow edge in both shots (14-12) and corner kicks (7-5), but except for its two goals did not test NNU goalkeeper Alexander Engemann who did not register a save.
