Rohnert Park, Calif. – Sweeping their way to a pair of wins on Friday afternoon, the Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team opened the 2008 season with victories over San Francisco State and Cal State Stanislaus at the Seawolf Spike volleyball tournament on the campus of Sonoma State University.
Lindsay Forseth (Jr./Nampa, ID) led the Crusaders (2-0) with 25 kills and 28 digs as the NNU squad defeated both SFSU (25-23, 27-25, 25-16) and CSUS (25-20, 28-26, 25-22) in three games. “Lindsay really did a nice job today,” commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger. “She is playing well, being patient and asserting herself on the court.”
Cammy Dranginis finished with 22 kills and seven blocks, while Eki Punimata handed out 42 assists in the six games.
“It was a good opening day. We took care of business and it's just nice to play against someone other than ourselves,” Sliger added. “Tomorrow will be a good test to see where we are at.”
The Crusaders will complete play at the Seawolf Spike with matches against Chico State at 11:30 a.m. PST and the host Seawolves of Sonoma State at 7:00 p.m. PST.
