MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team fell to the 20th-ranked nationally Wolves from Western Oregon University on Thursday night 23-25, 20-25, 28-26, 18-25 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Monmouth.
Cammy Dranginis led the Crusaders (9-6 GNAC, 15-9) with 15 kills and three blocks, while both Lindsday Forseth and
Amanda Boschma reached double-figures with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Forseth also added 13 digs.
The Wolves (14-1 GNAC, 21-2) were led by Stacey Bennett and Laura Sakala who matched Dranginis with game-high honors at 15 kills each. Bennett finished with three blocks and Sakala led all players with five as the Wolves out-blocked the Crusaders 11 to eight.
Eki Punimata led all setters with 27 assists and
Haley Hevern paced the defenders with 33 digs.
"Haley really played well tonight," NNU head coach Jared Sliger commented on his sophomore libero who set her career-best mark against the Wolves on Thursday.
The Crusaders will complete the 2008 season on Saturday night with a GNAC match at Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington.
