SEATTLE - The one-two punch of
Cammy Dranginis and Lindsay Forseth provided the power again Saturday as the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team defeated Seattle Pacific University 25-18, 28-26, 25-23 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at Brougham Pavilion in Seattle.
Dranginis finished with 13 kills and six blocks in the middle, while Forseth had 13 kills and 12 digs from the outside as the Crusaders improve to 11-7 overall and 5-4 in GNAC play.
"This is the first I-5 sweep for us, picking up our first wins at either SPU or WWU," commented NNU coach Jared Sliger on winning for the first time in his tenure at either of the Washington venues. The Crusaders dealt Western Washington University a home loss on Thursday, just their seventh in the last nine years, and have now won three straight matches.
"Amy (Higginson) had a good weekend leading the team to both victories and Haley (Hevern) continues to be our defensive rock, backed up tonight by (Kailey) Trautmann," Sliger continued. Higginson had 28 assists and both Hevern and Trautmann finished with 18 digs each.
Paige Hoffman led the Falcons (3-15 overall, 1-8 GNAC) with 11 kills and Joelle Perez dished a match-high 31 assists.
"It was good to have success this weekend and build some momentum heading into a five-match homestand," Sliger added.
The Crusaders will return home for their first real extended home stand of the season, having played 15 of their 18 matches on the road. NNU will host Alaska Anchorage on Thursday and Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday, both matches will start at 7:00 p.m. MST at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
