ELLENSBURG, Wash. – For the second night in a row, shooting guard Adam Schildmyer led the Crusader offense as the Northwest Nazarene men's basketball team defeated Notre Dame de Namur 69-65 at the Tarp It Wildcat Classic, presented by Quality Inn and Bar 14 Restaurant in Ellensburg.

Schildmyer scored a game-high 18 points as the Crusaders open the season 2-0 for the first time since 2003. Tyler Roberts scored 15 points and handed out a game-high six assists, while Kendall Gielow had 14 points and six rebounds to complete the trio of Crusaders in double-figures.

Justin Parnell, who scored 20 points on Friday night, netted seven points, but held NDNU point guard and leading scorer Ryan Cooper to just 10 points on one-of-eight shooting. Seven of Cooper's points came from the free throw line after scoring 25 points on Friday against Central Washington.

"Adam and Tyler really played well tonight offensively and Parnell was terrific on defense," commented NNU coach Tim Hills. "We played a great first half and gave ourselves the opportunity to win in the second half by taking care of the basketball and making a couple free throws."

"Tyler was a great point guard in the first half…when he plays like that we will win some basketball games," Hills added.

NDNU (1-1), who defeated the host Wildcats 85-84 in overtime on Friday, was led by post Eric Bossom's 14 points and six rebounds, while four other Argonauts also reached double-figures as Chris Edwards had 13, Chris Clock and Aaron Parker both scored 11 and Cooper added 10.

NNU shot 52.9-percent (27-51) from the field and 33-percent (7-21) from the three-point line. The Crusaders only attempted 12 free throws, making eight (66.7-percent), after going 29-of-35 on Friday.
