Nampa, ID – The Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team put together a dominant performance at home on Thursday, Jan. 29, cruising past Alaska
Fairbanks, 84–45, inside the Johnson Sports Center.
The win improves the Nighthawks to 12–6 overall and 7–3 in conference play.
Northwest Nazarene came out firing, opening the first quarter with a Kelly Garrity three-pointer on the opening possession. The Nighthawks followed that early spark with strong defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and controlling the glass behind Kendall Clark. NNU turned those stops into points, with Beaux Bruegman and Rylie Edlefsen providing timely scoring to quickly build momentum.
The Nighthawks kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, highlighted by a Claire Fischer three-pointer off a Garrity assist. NNU stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor, converting turnovers into points and continuing to stretch the lead. Sadi Clemons attacked the rim, Bruegman knocked down shots from deep, and Fischer added another three late in the quarter as the Nighthawks closed the half with disciplined defense and efficient offense.
Coming out of the break, NNU maintained control with energy and balance. Kendall Clark anchored the paint, while Fischer continued to provide steady scoring. The Nighthawks remained locked in defensively, limiting second chances and forcing tough looks from Alaska Fairbanks. Trinidie Nichols capped off the third quarter by knocking down a pair of free throws to help NNU carry momentum into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks finished strong, shooting 9-of-17 from the floor and adding five fast-break points. Alaska Fairbanks attempted to rally, but the NNU lead proved too much to overcome as the Nighthawks closed out an emphatic 84–45 victory.
Northwest Nazarene returns to action at home on Saturday, Jan. 31, when they take on Alaska Anchorage at 1:30 p.m. in the Johnson Sports Center.
