Nighthawks Fall to #16 Montana State Billings on Saturday

BILLINGS, Montana – NNU Women's Basketball traveled to Montana to compete against the MSUB Yellowjackets on Saturday the 15th. It was a tough matchup for the Nighthawks facing the number 16 nationally ranked team. The Yellowjackets took the victory with a final score of 93-62.

NNU now sits at 8-7 in GNAC play and 14-10 overall.

The Nighthawks got their offense going early with a few jumpers and a three-pointer by Madeline Gebers. However, the Yellowjackets quickly responded, as Aspen Giese sank a deep shot to give MSUB a 7-5 lead. The teams battled through the first quarter, with Beaux Bruegman, Kate Clark, and Jené Wells making key baskets to push the Nighthawks ahead. At the end of the quarter, they held a slim 21-19 lead.

As the second quarter began, Dyauni Boyce scored to put the Yellowjackets back on top. Both teams traded baskets, with a two-minute stretch passing without a single score. The Nighthawks struggled offensively, shooting just 4-for-13 from the floor, while MSUB capitalized on their opportunities, hitting 12 of 21 shots. By halftime, the Yellowjackets had built a commanding 46-31 lead.

The second half saw MSUB extend their advantage, scoring 25 points in the third quarter and 22 in the fourth. Their defensive effort kept the Nighthawks at bay, maintaining a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. Rylie Edlefsen attempted to spark a comeback with a deep three early in the fourth, followed by free throws from Chloe Deharo and Loy Waid. However, the deficit proved too great, and the Nighthawks ultimately fell by 31 points.
