Nighthawks Take Home Victory Against Westminster

NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene Women's basketball team finished out the GNAC-RMAC Crossover Tournament on the 20th in an exciting match up against the Westminster Griffins. The Nighthawks controlled the tempo of the game and walked away with a 74-57 victory.

The Nighthawks move to 5-4 overall on the season and sit at 0-1 in conference.

The Nighthawks got off to a quick offensive start, jumping out to a 7–4 lead highlighted by a deep three from Allie Hueckman. Westminster responded with back-to-back three-pointers to regain momentum and take the lead. The Griffins continued to shoot well from beyond the arc, closing the first quarter ahead 19–16.

The second quarter marked a turning point for the Nighthawks. Back-to-back three-pointers from Hadley Craig sparked NNU's offense, while increased defensive intensity helped create scoring opportunities. With key contributions from Trinidie Nichols and Rylie Edlefsen, the Nighthawks built a comfortable 36–25 lead heading into halftime.

NNU stayed locked in to begin the third quarter, applying steady pressure on the defensive end. The Nighthawks forced eight Westminster turnovers and recorded six steals, allowing them to maintain control even as shots were slow to fall. NNU carried an 11-point advantage into the final quarter.

The Nighthawks closed out the game strong in the fourth, doing what was needed to secure the win. Beaux Bruegman and Sadi Clemons scored key points in the paint, while Kelly Garrity knocked down a timely three. Despite continued efforts from the Griffins, NNU's defensive intensity held firm as the Nighthawks earned a 74–57 victory.

Trinidie Nichols led her team with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Rylie Edlefsen recorded 13 points followed by Kendall Clark who had 10.

The Nighthawks will have a week without play to celebrate Christmas and then will return to action on the 1st. They will travel to Alaska to compete against Alaska Anchorage at 7:30 pm Alaskan time.
