MONMOUTH, Ore. - Northwest Nazarene cross country enjoyed a dominant day on the course at Western Oregon's Mike Johnson Classic on Friday, with the men taking the team title, the women finishing as runner-up, and
Brody Kemble and
Morgan Erler each winning their individual races.
The Nighthawks' men were exceptional, sweeping the podium and placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 10th for a total of 23 points. Western Oregon was second, tallying 32 points.
Kemble led the way with his first win of the season, finishing in 24:15.9 with over 10 seconds separating him from the rest of the competition.
Ian Stockett was second at 24:26.9, followed closely behind by
Grady Mylander in third at 24:27.0.
Carter Stedman placed seventh at 25:02.1, with
Asher Ingram rounding out the scoring five in tenth at 25:15.7.
On the women's side,
Morgan Erler took the individual win, helping NNU to a second-place finish behind host Western Oregon.Â
Paige Trautman was next in 11th, followed by
McKenna Lechner in 12th and
Olivia Blum in 15th.
Casey Collom rounded out the scoring five in 19th.
NNU will race again next week, traveling up to Walla Walla, Washington for the Whitman Open on Saturday, October 5th.Â
