COLFAX, Wash. – Northwest Nazarene cross country took to the course for the second weekend in a row on Friday, competing in the WSU Cougar Classic against a field with multiple Division I programs.
On the men's side, the Nighthawks placed sixth out of 14 teams with 165 points, edging out the likes of the University of Idaho, UC San Diego, Montana, and Seattle University. Boise State took the meet by just two points over host Washington State, 60 to 62.
Leading the charge for NNU was
Grady Mylander, who finished 22
nd overall with a time of 24:28.8 in his second race as a Nighthawk after transferring from Utah State.
Brody Kemble was next, finishing 26
th in 24:31.3, followed just behind by
Ian Stockett in 28
th at 24:36.7. Among the field of exactly 100 runners,
Carter Stedman also had an impressive finish at 35
th in 24:44.4.
The Nighthawks' women placed 11
th as a team, led by
Morgan Erler's 39
th-place finish in 21:59.4. Mckenna Lechner was next in 64
th, followed by
Paige Trautman in 69
th and Olivia Klein 72
nd.
NNU will now take a weekend off from competition before traveling to Monmouth, Oregon on Sept. 27 for the Mike Johnson Classic, hosted by GNAC foe Western Oregon.
