NNU Sweeps the Day to Earn Series Win over Central Washington

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene softball swept the day to earn a series win over Central Washington. NNU took game one, 2-0, and game two, 3-1.

The Nighthawks are now 26-7 overall and 9-3 in the GNAC.

Game 1

NNU wasted no time getting on the board in game one. Abigail Gagnon was the first to drive in a run for the Nighthawks when she singled to bring home Emma Mulligan. The second run of the game came in the second inning when Mulligan singled to left center and scored Jami Obringer.

The score would hold 2-0 for the remainder of the game thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Sidney Booth. She pitched all 7.0 innings, striking out five batters. This was Booth's 16th win of the season.

Game 2

The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Gina Skinner stranded three runners on base with a strikeout to end the top of the first inning and minimize the damage caused by CWU.

All three runs for the Nighthawks came off one swing of the bat from Emma Bumatay who homered in the bottom of the third inning to give NNU the 3-1 lead.

Gina Skinner was credited with the win to advance to 8-1 on the season. Skinner threw 7.0 innings and struck out six batters. Clarissa Moreno and Jami Obringer each had multi-hit games for the Nighthawks.
