NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball finished their season falling to Saint Martin's, 88-72, in their game on Saturday night.
The Nighthawks finished the season 10-15 overall and 7-11 in the GNAC.
With this loss and a win from Seattle Pacific today, the Nighthawks were eliminated from GNAC postseason contention.
The Saints opened the game with four three-pointers to go up 12-2 in the first four minutes of the game. The Nighthawks scored nine points in the first quarter and trailed 27-9 at the end of the first. NNU outscored SMU 21-20 in the second quarter with the help of 10 points from
Madeline Gebers but trailed 47-30 at the half.
In the third quarter, NNU shot 58.3% from the field and 71.4% from the three-point line. The excellent shooting was not enough to overcome the Saints as they outscored the Nighthawks 26-23 in the third quarter. NNU outscored SMU 19-15 in the final quarter, but ultimately fell 88-72.
Madeline Gebers finished the season strong, leading the Nighthawks in points with an NCAA career high of 30-points. She also tied for the team lead in rebounds with
Beaux Bruegman at seven. Gebers' performance featured her shooting 10-13 from the field and 7-9 from deep.
