IRVINE, Calif. - Northwest Nazarene sophomore
Clarissa Moreno provided the heroics in game one of Saturday's West Region final, blasting a two-run homer over the wall in left to send the Nighthawks to a 3-1 victory over No. 11 Concordia and force a deciding final game to determine who advances to the Super Regional.
Both teams were scoreless after three frames before
Charlotte Forniss put NNU on top with an RBI single to center in the bottom of the fourth. Concordia was down to their final strike in the top of the seventh, but the Golden Eagles were able to tie the game at one with a single to center.Â
Kellcie Adams led off the bottom of the seventh with a sharply hit single to center before Moreno stepped up and belted the game-winner.
Sidney Booth was sensational yet again for the Nighthawks, going all seven innings and allowing just the one run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Now, the Nighthawks and Golden Eagles will battle for the third time at this regional, starting at roughly 3:05 p.m. Pacific time.
