FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball put an end to a brief two-game skid with an 87-73 victory over Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday night.
How It Happened
- The Nighthawks and Nanooks kept things close in the first quarter, with NNU taking just a two-point lead, 21-19, after one.
- NNU pulled away a bit in the second quarter, outscoring UAF by six to go into halftime up eight, 43-35.
- The Nanooks cut the deficit down to four late in the third quarter, but NNU ended the period on a 7-2 run to go back up by nine, 68-59.
- The Nighthawk lead hovered around 10 the rest of the way, with free throws at the end extending the final margin to 14, 87-73.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU improves to 6-4 in GNAC play and 12-6 overall.
- The win marks NNU's 13th-straight victory over UAF, as well as 28 wins in the last 29 meetings.
- Cami Knishka led NNU with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
- Erin Jenkins was the only other player in double figures with 10 points, adding four assists along the way.
- Nyalam Thabach just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, while Ashlynn Sylve, Clare Eubanks, and Teagan Thurman each had eight points.
- All 12 Nighthawks saw the floor in the game and each one scored in the victory.
