Nighthawks Fall Short to Pioneers

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell short of a win against Cal State East Bay on Saturday night by a score of 73-66.
 
How it Happened
 
The Nighthawks were outscored in the first quarter 20-13. A positive from the first half was four Nighthawk steals, three of which were by Jordan Pinson.
 
Just two and a half minutes into the second quarter, NNU found themselves down by 14. The Nighthawks started heating up and went on a 12-0 run. NNU shot just over 47 percent in the second quarter but trailed 34-32 at the end of the first half.
 
Both teams scored 19 in the 3rd quarter. Nine of the Nighthawks' points came from Pinson.
 
The fourth quarter started tight, but CSEB began to pull away. NNU tied the game up at 53-53 with a layup from Shawnacee Davis. The Pioneers reclaimed the lead and never gave it up again. The game concluded with a final score of 73-66 in favor of the Pioneers.

  • Pinson led the team with 15 points, followed by McKenna Castledine with 10
  • Pinson also led all players in steals with 7
  • The Nighthawks totaled 20 steals to the Pioneers' 12

The Nighthawks will head to Salt Lake City to compete in the Westminster Tournament. Their first game of the tournament will be against Westminster College.
