Danner Earns Second-Straight Academic All-American Honor

| By:
The 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections have been announced for women's cross country and track & field, and Northwest Nazarene's Bethany Danner has earned the prestigious honor for the second time.

Danner was named to the Third Team and is one of 12 student-athletes to have received the honor multiple times, notching Second Team honors after the 2019-20 year. She was also one of ten recipients with a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA.

Danner, a secondary education major, won the 10,000 meters at the GNAC Championships in a season-best time of 37:09.29 and placed third in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:13.71. The senior finished with the conference's top time in the 10,000 meters and ran the fifth-best time in the 5,000 meters, 18:06.74, at the Team 4 Ely Invitational on March 27.

She is the fourth Nighthawk to receive Academic All-America status from the 2020-21 year, joining Lorenzo Valentini of men's soccer and teammates Ben Johnson and John Gonzalez of baseball.

Voted on by Sports Information Directors across the country, the Division II Academic All-America® program recognizes the top student-athletes in the nation in terms of both academic and athletic achievement.
