Women's Basketball Adds Lukasiewicz to Coaching Staff

| By:
Northwest Nazarene women's basketball head coach Steve Steele has announced the addition of Stacey Lukasiewicz as an assistant coach with the program.

"I am thrilled to finally get Stacey here to NNU," said Steele. "She is one of the toughest, smartest, hardest working players I've ever coached, and her energy is incredibly contagious. She has an elite ability to hold herself and others accountable while at the same time making it clear that she cares about them."

Lukasiewicz comes to NNU from California Baptist University, where she spent the 2018-2021 seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Central Washington during the 2017-18 season. She was also a member of the Seattle Pacific women's basketball team before transitioning to coaching, playing in all but one game over her four seasons.

"I am so excited to join the NNU family and be a part of the program," said Lukasiewicz. "I am very thankful for Steve and NNU for giving me this opportunity. I was fortunate to be coached by Steve in three out of my four years at SPU and since then have known that I wanted to coach for him. I am excited to be back in the GNAC and offer as much as I can to this amazing program and university. It is so awesome to see how God has orchestrated things in my past to bring me to NNU, and I am so thankful! I cannot wait to get to work."

"I have known that she could be a great coach since her freshman season at SPU, and I've been trying to get her on this staff for the last 4 years," added Steele. "Lucky for us, Stacey comes now with experience in the GNAC as a player and coach and experience coaching at the Division 1 level under some outstanding head coaches. More importantly, she is a tremendous fit for our mission here at NNU and is a great Christ-like example for the women she will be helping to mold."

Lukasiewicz worked under head coach Jarrod Olson at Cal Baptist, who was the WAC Coach of the Year two out of the last three years. During her time at CBU, the program compiled an overall record of 60-28.

In the 2020-21 season, Cal Baptist recorded the best Division I record in the country at 26-1. The Lancers won the WAC regular season and tournament titles, and won two games in the WNIT before losing in the quarterfinals.

During her one season at CWU, the Wildcats qualified for the GNAC tournament with an 11-9 conference record.

Lukasiewicz, a native of Denver, Colorado, earned a Master's in Athletic Administration from Central Washington after graduating from Seattle Pacific with a degree in Exercise Science and Teaching Health and Fitness with a minor in coaching.
