NNU Closes Out GNAC Combined Events Championships

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene track & field took four athletes to the GNAC Combined Events Championships on Monday and Tuesday, with all four earning multiple PR's over the course of the decathlon and heptathlon.

Jaidyn Kinneeveauk finished sixth out of 11 competitors, placing sixth or better in five of the seven events, with a total of 4167 points that is a PR and moves her into eighth all-time at NNU in the heptathlon. Her best finish of fourth came in both the high jump and shot put on Monday, recording a PR of 1.54 meters in the high jump and a mark of 8.92 meters in the shot. She also finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.73, sixth in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 15.46, and sixth in the 800m with a PR of 2:34.56. Her 100m hurdles time is tied for third all-time at NNU during a heptathlon and high jump mark moves her up to eighth.

Ellie Earnest finished 10th with a PR of 3692 points, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 800m with a PR of 2:25.53. She also had a pair of seventh-place finishes in the high jump (1.45m) and 200m (27.38), while notching a PR of 4.93 meters in the long jump. Her marks in the 200m, 100m hurdles, and high jump were also all PR's. Her time in the 200m is seventh at NNU during a heptathlon, 800m mark is fifth, and long jump distance is 10th.

Turner Nye finished sixth out of 11 competitors in the decathlon with a PR of 5891 points, highlighted by second-place finishes in both the 400m with a time of 51.41 and the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.40. His point total moves him into tenth all-time at NNU in the decathlon. He also finished fourth in the 100m with a PR of 11.54 and fourth in the 1500m with a PR of 4:47.61, and added other PR's in the high jump and long jump. His 110m hurdles mark is second all-time at NNU during a decathlon and 100m time is tied for ninth.

Matt Mitchell tied for first in the high jump, clearing a PR of 1.86 meters, and finished ninth in the standings with a PR of 5040 points. He also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.46 meters and fifth in the discus with a PR of 27.23 meters, and recorded other PR's in the long jump, 100m, javelin, 110m hurdles, and 1500m. Mitchell hit personal bests in seven of the ten events. His high jump clearance is tied for fifth at NNU in a decathlon.

With the combined events portion of the championships completed, next up is the rest of the GNAC Championships on May 14-15 in Monmouth, Oregon.
