Five Nighthawks Named USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region

| By:
NEW ORLEANS - All Region honors for the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season, with five members of Northwest Nazarene track & field receiving the honor.

Top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.

NNU's honorees were Brody Monson in the javelin, Tyler Shea in the 10,000m, Dylan Tidwell in the 800m, Bethany Danner in the 10,000m, and Kinsey Langin in the pole vault.

In his freshman campaign, Monson quickly made a name for himself across the region in the javelin with the third-best mark in the West. His mark of 56.68 meters (186-0) came on May 14 at the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where he placed third overall. During the season, Monson had a first-place finish in the event at the Team 4 Titus Invitational on March 26 and finished fourth at the Aggie Invitational on April 9.

Shea grabbed the fifth spot in the 10,000m run with a season best of 30:31.78 on April 24 at the BYU Robison Invitational. The junior placed first at that invite and second in the same event at the GNAC Outdoor Championships on May 14.

Tidwell earned honors in the 800m, as his mark of 1:52.64 from the ISU Bengal Invitational on April 16 was good enough for fifth in the region. The freshman placed in the top three in four of the five outdoor meets that he ran the 800m in this spring, including a win at the Team 4 Titus Invitational in March and a third-place finish at the GNAC Outdoor Championships.

Danner made her mark in the 10,000m, finishing the year fourth regionally with a time of 37:09.29 that she set when she won the GNAC title at the Outdoor Championships. The senior ran the 10,000m one other time this year, placing third at the BYU Robison Invitational.

Langin was the third NNU freshman to receive honors, quickly breaking into the top of the Nighthawks' record books along the way. Her mark of 3.86 meters (12-8) set on April 21 at the BYU Robison Invitational was fifth in the region this year, and set a new NNU outdoor record in the event. She also placed second at the GNAC Championships and won the Aggie Invitational in early April.
