LOUISVILLE, Ky. - On Tuesday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the All-Region recipients for the 2021 season, and Northwest Nazarene softball has received six honors in the West Region.

Brittany Genuardi, Sidney Booth, and Maia McNicoll were all named to the First Team, while Tori Hensley, Ivy Hommel, and Abigail Gagnon were each given Second Team recognition.

NNU's six honors led the West Region and tied for the most in the nation, with Valdosta State also placing six athletes on the South Region teams.

Genuardi is in the top ten regionally in batting average (eighth, .397), doubles (second, 12), on-base percentage (first, .541), and walks (first, .93 per game). The senior catcher was also recently named the GNAC Player of the Year, becoming the first NNU softball player ever to receive the honor. One of the best players in NNU history, Genuardi already owns the program records for home runs, RBI, and walks, and is currently second in runs scored, hits, and doubles.

Booth is currently in the top ten in the region in over a dozen different categories across hitting and pitching. In the circle, she is first in strikeouts (163), first in strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.52), first in wins (15), second in strikeouts per game (9.0), second in complete games (14), second in WHIP (0.91), third in hits allowed per game (4.96), and fifth in ERA (1.76), while at the plate she ranks first in RBI (41), third in home runs (9), third in total bases (85), and eighth in slugging percentage (.697). The freshman pitcher/first baseman was also named the GNAC Pitcher of the Year last week.

McNicoll is the regional leader in home runs with 12 on the season while also ranking second with 36 RBI and 90 total bases, and fourth with a .732 slugging percentage. The sophomore outfielder was also named First Team All-GNAC for her play on the field.

In the circle, Hensley is the regional leader in walks allowed per seven innings at just 1.17. The junior is also fourth with a 5.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio and fifth with a WHIP of 1.19. Hommel is first in the West Region with 57 hits, 12 doubles, 27 stolen bases, and 102 total bases. The junior shortstop is also ninth with a .393 batting average, third with nine home runs, and seventh with a .703 slugging percentage. Gagnon anchored third base with a very strong defensive season, and ranks sixth on the team with a .309 batting average. Hommel was a Second Team All-GNAC pick, while Hensley and Gagnon were both Honorable Mention selections.

After claiming the regular-season GNAC crown, NNU fell in the GNAC Championships final last weekend, but still hopes to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals. As of the latest regional rankings from the NCAA, the Nighthawks were third in the region, with the top six teams receiving berths to the regional. The final rankings and selections to the NCAA postseason will be announced on Sunday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. MT.

This year's NFCA All-Region squads are comprised of 208 student-athletes from 114 programs. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2021 NFCA Division II All-America squads, which will be announced on Tuesday, May 25.
