Nighthawks Set Multiple Top Marks at BYU

PROVO, Utah – Northwest Nazarene track & field capped their 2021 outdoor regular season at BYU's Robison Invitational on Friday and Saturday with a plethora of great performances.
 
Kinsey Langin set a new NNU record in the pole vault for the second time this season, clearing a height of 3.86 meters. She finished fourth at the meet, improving to fourth all-time on the GNAC top-ten list, and improved her NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark.
 
Lauren Wuertz continues to impress as well, placing seventh and setting a new PR in the 400m with a time of 56.48. The mark improves her time from earlier this season as the third-fastest in the event in program history. Kalli Brence also did well in the event, placing 16th with a time of 58.89.
 
The Nighthawks showed well in the 10,000m, with Kalen Johnson taking second in 39:18.86 and Bethany Danner placing third in 39:32.04. Johnson's time moves her into eighth all-time at NNU, while Danner's mark is ninth.
 
Nizhoni Buckway set a new PR in the javelin with a throw of 37.38 (122'7.75"). The mark moves her into 10th on the NNU top ten list in the event.
 
Other PRs were also set on the women's side by Breann Porter in the 400m, Destany Herbert in the hammer, discus, and shot put, and Jessa Saum in the hammer.
 
On the men's side, Dylan Hendry had a great day on Friday in the hammer, launching a PR of 50.98 meters (167'3") to finish fourth. The mark moves Hendry into fifth all-time at NNU in the event.
 
Tyler Shea won the 10,000m run, finishing with a time of 31:24.60 that moves him all the way up to third all-time at NNU in the event.
 
Dylan Tidwell had another great race in the 800m, finishing second overall with a time of 1:53.64. Jeff Fairbanks also placed 11th in the event with a time of 1:58.27.
 
Logan Blake ran well in the 400m, placing seventh with a converted time of 49.15.
 
The Nighthawks will now prepare for the GNAC Championships. The combined events portion will take place on May 3 and 4 at Central Washington, followed by the main championships on May 14 and 15 at Western Oregon.
