| By:
DUPONT, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene men's golf shot 20 strokes better in round three than they did in round two, but still finished fourth overall at the 2021 GNAC Championships.

The Nighthawks recorded a 288 in today's final round, second-best among the field on the day. Combined with rounds of 306 and 308 yesterday, NNU finished with a total of 902.

"The men bounced back from a rough first day and played the way we knew we could today," said head coach Craig Stensgaard. "Under par and even par rounds from Grayson, Lane, and Tyler paired with 74's from Isaac and Cole made for great scoring."

Saint Martin's took the team title, finishing at 875. Western Washington made a charge on the final day with the lowest round of the tournament, 282, but finished two strokes back of SMU with 877. Montana State Billings placed third, totaling an 887.

Cole Evarts was NNU's lone top-ten finisher, tying for eighth at 223 (+7) over the three rounds. Grayson Giboney shot a 71 in the final round to improve to a tie for 13th at 225.

Lane Strand also recorded a 71 today, finishing in a tie with Tyler Joplin, who fired a 72, for 15th at 228 overall. Isaac Emerson also made significant improvement on the final day, shooting a 74, six strokes higher than his best round on day one.

Saint Martin's Tyler Fitchett won the individual title, shooting two under par for the event with rounds of 69, 72, and 73 (214 total).

NNU will now wait to hear if they are selected to participate in the NCAA Regionals with the qualifiers released on Friday. In the last regional rankings, the Nighthawks were ranked seventh with eight teams making the regional.
