Nighthawks Take on ISU and CWU Invites

POCATELLO, Idaho and ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene track and field competed in a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday, with most of the team heading to Idaho State's Bengal Invitational while the multis traveled to the CWU Invitational.

Bengal Invitational

The meet at Idaho State was another DI-filled competition for the Nighthawks, battling with the likes of ISU, Southern Utah, Utah Valley, and Montana State, among others. 

Lauren Wuertz was impressive again, placing second overall in the 400m with a time of 56.68. Kalli Brence also qualified and ran in the 400 finals, finishing seventh in 58.97.

Kinsey Langin continued her great freshman campaign, placing second overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.70 meters. 

Kalen Johnson also finished 12th in the 5000m with a time of 18:31.77.

Tyler Shea raced to third in the 5000m run, finishing in a time of 14:56.34. The mark is a new NNU Outdoor record.

Dylan Tidwell finished seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:53.16, moving into second all-time at NNU. Jeff Fairbanks did well in his heat of the 800, placing third in 1:58.14.

CWU Invitational

Jaidyn Kinneeveauk and Ellie Earnest competed in the heptathlon, with Kinneeveauk placing fifth with 4092 points and Earnest finishing tenth with 3235 points. On the men's side in the decathlon, Turner Nye finished third overall with a personal best of 5708 points, winning the 400m section of the event. Matt Mitchell also placed eighth with 4708 points.
