NNU Athletics to Honor Kerri (Locke) Van De Wetering

| By:
During a home basketball doubleheader in January, Northwest Nazarene Athletics will be honoring a remarkable former student-athlete with the Kerri (Locke) Van de Wetering Memorial Game.

Kerri (Locke) Van de Wetering (NNU Class of '90) was an incredible person. On May 30, 2020, she died unexpectedly. Friends and family members rallied together, desiring to establish the Kerri Van de Wetering Basketball Scholarship. Last November, the goal of raising $25,000 to endow this scholarship was successfully met. This scholarship will stand as a continuing legacy of Kerri's life and will empower future female NNU basketball players.

As an athlete, Kerri was a mainstay in NNU's lineup from 1986-90, playing in 86 games and finishing her career as just the fifth 1,000-point scorer (1,044) in program history up to that point. She was also sixth in program history in rebounding at the time of her graduation and remains in the top 20 all-time to this day, finishing with 555 in her career to be one of 14 players in program history with at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. She is also still tied for fourth all-time with 100 career blocks.

Details of the event are below:
