SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball dominated from start to finish in a 75-62 victory over Concordia (CA) on Saturday.
How It Happened
- NNU opened the game on a 14-5 run, capped by a Teagan Thurman layup at the 3:50 mark of the first quarter.
- The Nighthawks would build the lead up to 11, 25-14, to end the first quarter on a layup from Nyalam Thabach.
- NNU's strong play continued in the second stanza, extending the lead out to 17 at 47-30 at the break.
- NNU then opened the second half with eight unanswered points to build the lead to 25 and coasted from there, with a very late run by the Eagles cutting the final margin to 13, 75-62.
Nighthawks Notes
- With their fourth-straight victory, NNU improves to 4-2 on the year. Concordia falls to 3-2 on the season.
- The Nighthawks shot an incredible 58.2% from the field in the win, making 32 of 55 shots and 31 of 51 from inside the arc, as they only took four triples and made one.
- NNU was also hot from the free throw line, making 10 of 11 for a 90.9% clip.
- The Nighthawks had a massive advantage down low, outrebounding the Eagles 33-18 and earning 15 second chance points off 10 offensive rebounds.
- Thabach and Thurman tied for the team lead with 20 points apiece, going a combined 19-24 (80%) from the field.
- Thurman also pulled down 13 rebounds, setting a new career high in points and equaling her rebounding career best, also grabbing 13 against Concordia last year.
- Emma Clark was next for NNU with nine points and Jordan Pinson dished out four assists.

The Nighthawks will now take their winning streak into conference play next week, visiting Montana State Billings on Thursday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
