Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team just keep on winning.

The Nighthawks knocked off Azusa Pacific 77-63 on Friday at a crossover tournament in California.

Avery Albrecht was one of four players in double figures, scoring a game-high 16 points.

"Azusa is definitely one of the best teams in the region," NNU coach Steve Steele said. "They are talented, deep and so long. I was really proud of how we competed against them.

"I don't think we will play too many teams that are that much more athletic than we are, so I was happy with how we were still able to execute."

The Cougars (3-2) faced a pair of GNAC teams last weekend, knocking off Seattle Pacific 67-58 and falling to Western Washington 77-74 in overtime in Seattle.

Ellie Logan and Danielle Jardine each scored 12 points, while point guard Marina Valles had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The Nighthawks face Biola at 2 p.m. MST on Saturday at Azusa before returning home to open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play at 7 p.m. Thursday against the University of Alaska.

The Nighthawks made nine 3-pointers, while the Cougars shot just 3-of-17 from behind the arc.
