FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team won it's Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener 99-57 on Thursday against Alaska.
McKenna Walker's 18 points led all scorers, as she was 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-point line.
Avery Albrecht added 14 points and five rebounds, while
Colette Gall and Marina Valles each had 11 points.
"Any win in Alaska is a really big win, so I'm really proud of our girls for that," NNU coach
Steve Steele said. "We played really hard and we shared the ball, which are things we always want to do."
NNU was 11-of-22 from the 3-point line and shot 52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the field for the game.
The Nighthawks (5-1, 1-0 GNAC) play at Alaska Anchorage at 9 p.m. MST on Saturday.
Everyone on the roster played for NNU and scored as the Nighthawks won their second consecutive game.
"We still have some lulls on defense that are going to catch up to us if we don't fix that eventually," Steele said. "We are really happy to come out of here with a win and hope to keep it rolling on Saturday."
