BURNABY, B.C. — The Crusaders couldn't shut down the Clan's offense on Saturday night, and it made for disappointing visiting to Canada for Northwest Nazarene.

Host Simon Fraser shot 57.6 percent from the field and tossed in 13 3-pointers, forcing the Crusader women's basketball team to play a game of catch-up it ended up losing, falling 90-73 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

"We didn't come out with the necessary purpose and intensity needed to guard Simon Fraser's offense," NNU head women's basketball coach Ryan Bragdon said. "We knew they'd come out ready to go, and we didn't match their energy from the start. It's disappointing."

Down 5-0 early, NNU (4-8 overall, 2-4 GNAC) answered with a 6-point surge capped by two Ellie Logan free throws, but Simon Fraser (5-6, 3-3) went on a 17-4 run that set the tone for the rest of the game.

A Carly Parker bucket in the opening minutes of the second quarter trimmed the difference down to 26-20, and a pair of CoCo Gall free throws late in the third quarter narrowed the difference to 60-52, but NNU never got closer.

McKenna Walker led the way for the Crusaders with 13 points, while Kate Cryderman scored 12, grabbed four rebounds and blocked three shots, and Cierra White added 11 points in the contest.

The Crusaders now return home to host Alaska on Thursday night at the Johnson Sports Center, and then NNU entertains No. 2 Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night.
