Box Score 2 NAMPA, Idaho – The Crusaders couldn't build off the momentum of their walk-off win from Friday night.
Instead, visiting Western Washington adjusted to shut down Northwest Nazarene's offense and sweep the two teams Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader - 10-0 in five innings and 6-1 - on Saturday at Halle Field on the NNU campus.
"We didn't make the adjustments we needed to offensively today," said NNU head softball coach
Rich Wagner. "They did a good job changing things up on us today and we didn't adjust."
Gatalina Schuster had the lone hit in the opener for the Crusaders (3-20, 1-11 GNAC), while Emily Benson sparked Western Washington's offensive day with a 3-run home run in the top third.
Gatalina SchusterMakinlee Sellevold added a solo homer in the fourth for the Vikings (14-10, 7-5) who iced the victory with a 6-run rally in the top of the fifth.
In the nightcap, the Vikings got an RBI single from Kali Patterson in the second and a Benson RBI single in the third for an early edge, then broke the game open with a 4-run rally in the fourth.
NNU tried to answer, getting an RBI groundout off the bat of
Ali Schauer in the seventh, but could muster no more.

Whitney Carlton each had a hit in the nightcap for NNU, which is back in action quickly as the Crusaders host Willamette at noon on Tuesday and The College of Idaho at 4 p.m. that same day.
"We made some mistakes defensively in both games that we couldn't battle out of," said Wagner, adding, "we will get back to work Monday to get ready for next week."
