NAMPA, Idaho – With one swing, freshman
Noelle Wright Senior Day
had a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning and later scored on an error, giving NNU momentum, and a 4-3 lead.

CWU pushed a run across in each the fourth and fifth, clinging to a tenuous 5-4 lead that didn't last a single out in the bottom half of the inning.

Varady, Wright and Gatalina Schuster each singled before Carlton was hit by a pitch, tying the game and igniting an 8-run NNU rally.

Callen singled home a pair of runs, Nitschelm added a two-run single and Varady put the Crusader on top 12-5 with a three run double.

Plenty for Wright, who earned both Crusader wins on the day in the circle, wrapping up her two-year career at NNU with 13 total victories.

"Playing for the seniors was a big deal," Wagner said of NNU's comeback to win the third game. "Shelby Johnson and Noelle Wright have meant a lot to this program the last two years. All the underclassmen look up to them and they played really well for them."

While Wright picked up the two wins in the circle, she also added a base hit in the finale, while Johnson went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the finale for NNU, which recorded the third-most wins in a season in program history on the day as well.

"The girls showed a lot of competitiveness and came out the third game and played really well and showed a lot of heart and gave us a lot of momentum going into next year," Wagner said.
