NAMPA, Idaho – Inches away.

The Northwest Nazarene softball team saw a ball stay just fair for the Wildcats, a big blow that opened the door to a 7-1 victory for Central Washington in the first game of a rain-soaked Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at Halle Field on the NNU campus Friday afternoon.

Play in game two of the twinbill was suspended with the Wildcats leading 2-0 in the middle of the fourth inning.

The two teams return to the field Saturday at noon to complete the suspended game, then will play Saturday's regularly schedule doubleheader.

In the game the teams were able to complete, Andrea Hamada snapped a scoreless tie with an RBI single to center in the top of the fifth.

Jordan Zurfluh then lined a double just over the first-base bag with two outs, plating two runs and breaking the game open.

The Crusaders (11-33 overall, 3-18 GNAC) battled, but couldn't answer the sudden momentum swing, only managing to push across a solo run in the bottom of the sixth on a Shelby Johnson RBI bloop double to center field.
