NAMPA, Idaho - For the second straight day, Northwest Nazarene found Nickayla Skinner a tough foe as The College of Idaho's star pitcher led her Coyote teammates past the Crusaders.
Skinner struck out nine batters and added a 3-for-4 effort at the plate while driving in four runs, leading The C of I past NNU, 17-1 in five innings at Halle Field on the NNU campus Saturday afternoon.
A bright spot in the loss for NNU came with one swing as
Whitney Carlton belted a solo home run in the third inning for the Crusaders (5-11 overall), the team's 19
th home run already this season.
Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out and will be made up at a date and time yet to be determined.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday and Saturday, playing doubleheaders both days at St. Martin's in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference openers for both teams.
