MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Crusaders offense slowed in the second half, and it proved costly.

The Northwest Nazarene men's basketball team shot a solid 10-of-23 (43.5 percent), made eight 3-pointers in the opening and forged a seven-point lead, but it was all for naught as Western Oregon rallied late to score a 68-54 win over the Crusaders in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game postponed from Saturday because of snow.

"We played a great first half today but ran out of steam late in the second half," NNU coach Dave Daniels said. "I felt like we had a lot of great looks at the basket that just didn't go down."

Pol Olivier's 3-pointer with 3 minutes, 9 seconds left in the opening half spotted NNU (5-15 overall, 3-9 GNAC) a 27-20 lead that the Crusaders maintained, holding a 32-25 edge at halftime.

The Wolves (13-10, 6-7) chipped away in the second half, inching closer and closer, but a Kevin Rima layup with 12:04 left kept NNU in front, 46-43.

A Mirza Sabic 3 put Western Oregon in front 48-46, and after a Mario Donaldson bucket tied the score WOU pulled away for good on an 18-5 run over the next 8:43.

Donaldson, Grayson Moore and Rima each scored 12 points for NNU in the game, with Rima adding nine rebounds and Donaldson had seven rebounds.

The game was postponed from Saturday because of a snowstorm that closed roads in Western Oregon.

The Crusaders now return home to host Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday and Alaska Anchorage on Saturday.
