NNU Drops Two in Final Day of Tournament of Champions

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene University softball team dropped two games in the final day of the Tournament of Champions held by Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, California. Grand Canyon University defeated the Crusaders 5-0 in today's first game. In game two, the Crusaders lost 0-10 against Chaminade University.

In an early morning game in Turlock, Grand Canyon used 11 hits to help top the Crusaders 5-0. Haley Walker and Nicole Newbury each had two hits for GCU. Five Crusaders had one hit in the game. Noelle Wright took the loss in the circle for NNU after 7 innings pitched.

In game two, led by four hits from Kori Berinobis, Chaminade University defeated NNU 10-0. Rayna Okimoto hit a two-run homerun in the final inning of play for the Silverswords.

Michelle Crumbaker had 2 hits to lead NNU at the plate. Wright pitched four innings for NNU, taking the loss and dropping to 5-29 on the year.

The Crusaders (5-33, 0-18 GNAC) will be back in action next Wednesday when they host the College of Idaho at 3:00 p.m. at Halle Field on the campus of Northwest Nazarene.
