BURNABY, BC – Conference unbeaten Simon Fraser Clan defeated Northwest Nazarene 3-1 and 4-0 in today's softball double-header at Beedie Field in Burnaby, BC.
The Clan (9-9, 5-0 GNAC) had 11 hits in game one. Alex Baylak was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's to help lead SFU to a 3-1 win. Lauren Mew went 3 for 4 from the plate and Rosie Murphy was 2 for 3. Cara Lukawesky improved to 2-2, earning the win on the mound for the Clan.
Kayla Sevier and
Michelle Crumbaker each went 1 for 3 in game one.
Noelle Wright took the loss on the mound dropping to 6-10 on the year.
In game two, Kaitlyn Cameron's 2 hits and 3 RBI's led SFU. Baylak was 1 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Kelsie Hawkins earned the win on the mound going to 5-2 on the year.
Baylee Jolliffe and
Brianna Kinghorn each had two hits in game two to lead the Crusaders (5-16, 0-6 GNAC).
Noelle Wright pitched a total of 12 innings in today's games.
NNU will now return to home action next Thursday as they host Saint Martin's University in a double-header beginning at noon at Halle Field in Nampa, Idaho.
