Vikings Sweep Crusaders In Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington Vikings defeated the Crusaders of Northwest Nazarene in both games of today's softball double-header action held at Viking Field in Bellingham, Washington.
 
The Vikings came out on top in game one 4-1. Jenna DeRosier jumped to 5-2 on the mound for WWU after 7-innings pitched and giving up only 3 hits and walking 3 batters.
 
Baylee Jolliffe led NNU at the plate going 2 for 2 and scoring the lone Crusader run. Kira Varady was 1 for 3 with an RBI for NNU. Noelle Wright drops to 5-10 overall on the mound.
 
In game to WWU used a four-run second inning to help clinch the victory 6-2.
 
Jolliffe, Brianna Kinghorn and Kayla Sevier all had two hits in the second game to lead NNU. Sevier also had 1 RBI. Krista Olson received the loss on the mound dropping to 0-3 on the season.
 
Anisa Wingsness earned the win for the Vikings improving to 3-3 on the season. Kaleigh Keating led WWU at the plate going 3 for 4.  Alexie Levin was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
 
NNU falls to 5-14 overall and 0-4 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The Crusaders will now travel to Burnaby, BC to take on Simon Fraser University tomorrow in two games beginning at 1:00 p.m. (PST).
