Vikings Sweep Crusaders at Halle Field

NAMPA, Idaho – The Western Washington Vikings' softball team took two wins from Northwest Nazarene in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference double header held at Halle Field in Nampa, Idaho.  The Vikings took game one 16-6 and won 8-0 in the final game.

WWU (16-14, 8-8 GNAC) used a 16-run sixth inning to pull ahead of the Crusaders 16-6. The Vikings would hold NNU scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take the game one win.

Kristen Allen and Camille Depew both had 2 hits and 3 RBI's to lead the Vikings in the first game.

Michelle Crumbaker and Kayla Sevier both went 2 for 4 from the plate and had 2 RBI's each for NNU.

In game two the Vikings brought in four runs in both the second and fifth innings of play to earn the 8-0 win in five innings of play.

Kaleigh Keating was 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Rachelle Berry was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's for the Vikings.

Kayla Sevier had the lone Crusader hit in the second game. Noelle Wright took both losses in the circle, dropping to 5-23 on the year.

The Crusaders fall to 5-28 overall and 0-18 in GNAC action. NNU will be back in action next Friday when they take part in the Cal State University Stanislaus Tournament of Champions in Turlock, California. The Crusaders will face California Baptist at 8:00 am (PST) for their first match-up.
