NAMPA, Idaho - The Western Oregon University softball team defeated the Crusaders 6-2 and 11-4 this afternoon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at Halle Field in Nampa.
Tied 1-1 into the eighth inning of the opener, Western Oregon (15-12, 6-0 GNAC) scored five in the top half of the extra frame to take control. The Crusaders answered with one in the bottom of the eighth, but WOU would end the rally and claim the 6-2 win.
The Wolves scored three in the first inning and seven in the second to jump out to a 10-0 lead in game two.
The Crusaders (5-20, 0-10 GNAC) rallied for three in the third and each team scored one run in the fifth to extend the game into the full seven innings.
Baylee Jolliffe led the Crusaders in game two, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Joining Jolliffe in the hit column were
Bryanna Weller,
Shelby Johnson and
Kayla Sevier, who each had one. Sevier plated two RBI and Johnson had one.
In the opener,
Kira Varady had two hits and both
Kendra Day and Weller had one hit.
