BURNABY, BC – West Region No. 3 Simon Fraser University defeated Northwest Nazarene University 73-52 in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball showdown.
The Clan used a 21 to 4 run in the first half to take a 41 -20 lead going into the locker room.
The Crusaders overcame the lead in the second half. Both teams scored 32 points in the final half.
Megan Hingston led the Crusaders with 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting.
Chelsie Luke added 11 points and a team-high of 8 rebounds.
Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe led the Clan with 23 points and 10 rebounds. She was 10 of 14 from the floor and 3 of 6 from the free-throw line. Erin Chamber added 18 points for SFU.
NNU, who falls to an 18-6 overall record and 10-6 in GNAC play, went 20 of 56 (35.7-percent) from the floor and 10 of 14 (71.4-percent) from the foul line. The Clan were 27 of 61 (44.3-percent) from the field and 12 of 18 (66.7-percent) from the charity stripe.
The Crusaders will wrap up GNAC regular season action next week when they host Montana State University Billings on Thursday, and Seattle Pacific University on Saturday. Both games will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa Idaho.
