Nampa, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University softball team defeated Eastern Oregon University 5-4 and 8-7 in today's home opening double-header action held at Halle Field in Nampa, Idaho.
 
In game one the Crusaders got behind 4-0 until a five-run third inning that would hold on to top the Mountaineers of EOU.
 
Brianna Kinghorn led the Crusaders at the plate going 1 for 3 with 3 RBI's. Shelby Johnson was 2 for 3.
 
Noelle Wright earned the win on the mound for NNU improving to 2-2 on the season.
 
Alex Hillmick received the loss after four-innings pitched for EOU.
 
In game two, the Crusaders held on for an 8-7 victory.
 
Noelle Wright and Michelle Crumbaker each had 2 hits at the plate for NNU and both brought in 3 runs. Shelby Johnson was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.
 
Wright also earned the win in game two. She pitched all 14 innings today, improving to 3-2 on the year.
 
The Crusaders (5-6) will be back in action tomorrow against the University of Great Falls. Double-header action is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Halle Field in Nampa, Idaho.
