BISMARK, N.D. – Aaron Elwee's shot from 45 yards out found the back of the net just 13 seconds into overtime, as the University of Mary upset the visiting Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team 2-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action Thursday evening.

"That's one of the most shocking finishes I've ever seen," NNU coach Coe Michaelson said. "It's hard to take, we played well enough to win but gave away another set-piece goal."

The Marauders win came after the Crusaders (3-7-5 overall, 3-6-3 GNAC) stole the game's momentum with a late goal by Fredy Razo.

Razo, who scored his 10th of the season with 4:31 remaining in regulation, took a pass from Luke Broz and beat UM goalkeeper Jack West, tying the game at 1-1 to force overtime.

The Crusaders nearly won it before overtime with the momentum on their side, as Michaelson said: "we hit the post in the final minute."

Instead, the Marauders got the break to win seconds into overtime.

Mary (2-10-2, 2-8-2) took an early lead when Jordan Pearce scored 12:21 into the action.

Ryan Foo made eight saves in goal for NNU, which was outshot 19-11 by the Marauders. West made one save in the win.

"In many ways it's typical of our season, but we have to get back up for Saturday and hope the luck that has gone against us turns," Michaelson said.

The Crusaders remain on the road, next playing at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Saturday.
