Box Score Boxscore

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team completed the Alaska Sweep this afternoon in Fairbanks, defeating the University of Alaska Fairbanks 59-50 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the Patty Center on the UAF campus.

The Crusaders, who improved to 13-2 overall and 5-2 in GNAC play, defeated Alaska Anchorage 76-49 on Thursday to set up the sweep possibility this afternoon.

Megan Hingston led all scorers with a 14 point – 12 rebound double-double performance and Chelsie Luke added 11 in the tightly contested contest.  Never leading by more than eight until the final free-throws, the Crusaders led 29-22 at the half and out-scored the Nanooks by just two in the second half.

The Nanooks (2-13, 0-7 GNAC) were led by Benissa Bulaya with 12 and Kelly Logue with 10.

NNU out-rebounded UAF 51-36 as both Luke and Kylee Schierman had seven rebounds each to compliment Hingston.

Both teams were frigid from the three-point line as the Crusaders were only 3-of-14 (21-percent), but the Nanooks were 0-for-18 from the arc.

The Crusaders will return to home action next week, hosting league-leaders Simon Fraser on Thursday and Western Washington on Saturday.  Both games will tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
