NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team used a 14 to 3 run to start the second half to help spark the team past the Saints of Saint Martin's University 86-69 in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference showdown.

Heather Adams knocked down a buzzer beating three-point basket to end the first half and put the Crusaders up 9. Adams finished the game perfect from beyond the arc going 5 of 5 and posting 17 points for NNU.
“I was really happy to see us shoot the ball so well,” commented head coach
Kelli Lindley, “Heather stepped up for us and hit some big threes against their zone.”
Megan Hingston led the Crusaders with 24 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the floor and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Chelsie Luke chipped in 13 points while freshman
Taylor Simmons poured in 10 of her own and had 7 steals for NNU.
“Taylor had a great night with 7 steals, she set the tone for us on defense and really got us going,” added Lindley.
Chelsea Haskey led the Saints with 24 points on 11 of 18 shooting from the floor. Jordyn Richardson chipped in 13 points with three buckets coming from beyond the arc.
“Give credit to SMU they shot the ball well and Haskey was very tough to guard inside,” said Lindley.
NNU scored 30 points off of their 23 forced turnovers and out-rebounded the Saints 36-27.
The Crusaders were 28 of 61 (45.9-perecent) from the floor and 7 of 14 (50.0-percent) from behind the three-point line. NNU was 23 of 30 (76.7-percent) from the charity stripe. The Saints shot 25 of 46 (54.3-percent) from the floor and 13 of 19 (68.4-percent) from the foul line.
The lady Crusaders who jump to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in GNAC action will now travel to face the University of Alaska Anchorage next Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Complex in Anchorage, Alaska.
