Crusaders Take Down The Wolves 78-59

NAMPA, Idaho – Chelsie Luke, Megan Hingston and Taylor Simmons all scored in double-figures to lead the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team to a 78-59 victory over the Wolves of Western Oregon University in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest.
 
“Chelsie and Megan have been really consistent for us all year, both of them rebounded and scored very well tonight,” commented head coach Kelli Lindley.
 
Luke led all scorers with 19 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the floor and grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds for NNU. Megan Hingston had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Taylor Simmons added 15 points and 3 steals for the Crusaders.
 
“I was really happy about our defense the second half,” added Lindley, “I thought we executed the game plan well and were able to limit their looks at the basket.”
 
Melissa Fowler led the Wolves with 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Chantel Divilbiss had 14 points and was 3 of 3 from beyond the three-point line.
 
The Crusaders had 28 points in the paint with 15 of them coming on second chance opportunities. NNU was 31-67 (46.3-percent) from the floor and 13-15 (86.7-perecent) from the free throw line. The Wolves were 22 of 59 (37.3-percent) from the floor and 12 of 19 (63.2-percent) from the charity stripe.
 
NNU jumps to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play. WOU falls to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in conference action.
 
The Crusaders will be back in action Saturday at 7:00 p.m. as they host Saint Martin's University at the Johnson Sports Center on the campus of NNU.
