NAMPA, Idaho - The Western Oregon University softball team used an error and a pair of wild pitches in the top of the seventh to claim game one 4-2 over the Crusaders this afternoon at Halle Field. The Wolves defeated Northwest Nazarene 17-9 in game two.
Elizabeth Beaty and
Kristin Refsland hit solo home runs in the opener for the Crusaders, who out-hit Western Oregon (14-21, 10-12 GNAC) 6 to 4, but the Wolves scored twice in the seventh for the opening game victory.
Jourdan Williams led the Wolves in game two, going 3 for 4 with five RBI's, thanks to a three-run home run in the first. Andrea Bailey went 4 for 4 and scored five times as the Wolves out-hit NNU 15 to 10 in the nightcap.
Arielle Chao and
Chelsea Allsbrook each had two hits in game two as Chao hit her seventh home run of the season, a two-run blast off the left field scoreboard in the fourth, and Allsbrook delivered a solo home run in the sixth.
The Crusaders (6-27, 5-19 GNAC) will return to the diamond on Saturday, hosting Montana State Billings in a league doubleheader that begins at Noon.
