NAMPA, Idaho - The Crusaders dropped two games to the Wolves of Western Oregon in today's double header action in Nampa. In the first game NNU fell 15-4 in five innings and in game two the Wolves came out on top 5-4.
NNU started game one bringing in four runs in the first inning of play but went scoreless from there on out. Western Oregon used a big second inning, scoring eight runs, to put them up six after the inning. The Wolves would score four in the third and one more in the fifth to end the game in five innings of play.
The Crusaders were led by senior
Arielle Chao, who was 2 for 3 from the plate with two RBI's and one run.
Emily Renfrow went 2 for 2 from the plate.
Cara Duckworth (3-13)received the loss in game one.
Ashley Worthy led the Wolves going 3 for 3 with four RBI's. Both Andrea Bailey and Danielle Harcourt had home-runs for Western Oregon. Getting the win for the Wolves was junior Hanna Pomeroy (3-7)
In game two both teams were tied at three after four innings of play. The Wolves scored two runs in the fifth to put them up 5-3. The Crusaders were able to bring one run around in the last inning but Western Oregon was able to finish the game and take the victory 5-4.
Arielle Chao went 1 for 3 with a solo home-run in the third inning.
Chelsea Allsbrook went 2 for 3 for the Crusaders. Freshman
Krista Olson dropped to 2-4 after the loss.
Ashley Worthey was 2 for 3 to lead Western Oregon.Myranda Sawyer (5-5) earned the win for the Wolves.
The Crusaders drop to 6-25 overall and 5-17 in GNAC action. The Wolves improve to 12-21 overall and 8-12 in conference play. Both teams will return for a double-header tomorrow starting at 3 p.m. in Nampa.
